HelpDesk and Inventory Specialist

We are a West Michigan health plan benefits administrator looking to hire an individual that has a desire to grow with us. We have an immediate opening for a HelpDesk/Inventory Specialist position. 

The HelpDesk and Inventory Specialist role is responsible for managing all the corporate assets along with maintaining spare inventory and answering incoming HelpDesk calls and/or e-mails. This position will also assist with testing both hardware & software application being evaluated or implemented by the infrastructure team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: These include the following and others may be assigned. 

  • Audit shipments received against purchase orders for quantity ordered.
  • Manage assets by barcoding, scanning, and updating in corporate tracking system before placing equipment/furniture into inventory.
  • Maintain spare inventory levels and report needed supplies for ordering monthly.
  • Field incoming requests to the IT Help Desk via phone and e-mail.
  • Work with customers on hardware, software and network issues while providing and maintaining the highest level of customer service.
  • Log all Help Desk interactions and customer data into Help Desk ticketing system.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure issues have been resolved.
  • Escalate reported issues (when required) to appropriate technicians with detailed information in a timely matter.
  • Assist the Help Desk Team Lead with any other helpdesk or facility related items as needed.
  • Must be able to work 8:00 A.M. – 4:30 P.M. with half hour lunch periods.
  • Follow safety and COVID protocols.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Windows 10 and Microsoft Office Suites. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized, detailed oriented, self-motivated and the ability to work alone or as a team.
  • Strong problem-solving / troubleshooting skills.
  • Time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • The ability to research and understand technical documentation.
  • The ability to meet deadlines with a variety of responsibilities.
  • The ability to work both on-site at our Grand Rapids, Michigan office and remotely.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally.

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Preferred Associates degree or higher in a related field.
  • One year of recent experience as a HelpDesk Technician or Inventory Specialist.
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Software Certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or A+ are a plus but not required.
